Cooking Classes

Take your cooking skills to the next level with Chef Rogers’ comprehensive cooking classes.

Learn the techniques and dishes inspired from his travels around New Zealand and the world. Jonathan will teach you everything from buying the freshest ingredients to constructing unforgettable dishes.

Once you’ve mastered those skills, you’ll be able to learn how to cook the perfect recipes to host the ultimate dinner party.

Farm Visits

Chef Jonathan works very closely with a number of small farms throughout the Queenstown and Central Otago.

Allowing for seasonality visits to these farms can be arranged, where the guest gets to experience firsthand how the most amazing produce is grown and produced.

After the visit we will return to the accommodation to create a menu that showcases the produce of the farm visited.

“Jonathan Rogers, the hugely talented head chef Matakauri Lodge cooked a preview of dishes for us from the new dinner menu. From the 15th August, the lodge restaurant will include dinner, and will also be available to guests who are not staying but wish to experience Jonathan’s incredibly delicious food.

I have had the chance to eat some pretty amazing food all over the globe, but Ted and I agreed that this was one of the most special meals we’ve ever had the privilege to enjoy. Flavours and combinations that I could never have imagined, came together in the most incredibly delicious dining experience, matched with stunning wines chosen by restaurant manager Quinn Huber.

You know how sometimes when you have an incredible degustation menu you can wake up the next morning feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus - the food hangover. Not so after this amazing 6 course menu (plus hors d’oeuvres and petit fours)

The food is clean and light with fresh dynamic flavours, offered in an à la carte menu that changes daily, and is tailored around the individual likes and needs of each guest and matched with a world-class wine menu.”
